The Rug Makes the Room
There are many factors to consider when selecting the ideal area rug. First and foremost, you should really admire and love the rug you choose, beyond the added benefits of how it will complement your furnishings and the room in which it is placed. A rug should be thought of as an original work of art for your floor. In fact, it has been said that purchasing a hand-knotted Oriental rug is like purchasing an original oil painting, while purchasing a machine-made rug could be compared to getting a print of that painting.
I suggest you always purchase the highest quality of rug your budget will allow—it will prove to be well worth it in the overall life of the rug. There are many specific characteristics that come together to determine the quality of each rug, from the fibers used to the way each knot is woven. Geography plays a big part in how artisans create and craft each piece.
Our store is the largest source of fine Nepalese rugs in South Florida. These rugs are woven using the Tibetan knotting technique. The wool comes from sheep that are raised in very high altitudes, resulting in a high lanolin content and subsequently a beautiful sheen for the rug. The wool is hand-spun, which creates a unique look. We specialize in custom Nepalese rugs, and have over 500 samples of custom designs in our store. We also have over 1,200 different color selections in our store from which the customer can select the perfect look.
There are some exciting new trends in rug décor, from innovative new weaving technology to vibrant colors and patterns. Exotic skins and hides are also very popular now. Our cowhides are selected from the best hides from Uruguay and Argentina, and are available in custom designs and sizes. They are very stain resistant, and take between 6 to 8 weeks to create.
We also import many of our rugs from India, and I personally travel to regions known for their high-quality materials to hand-select the most exclusive rugs available.
We’re always ready to help you select the perfect rug or wall-to-wall carpeting that adds the ideal statement to your room. From hand-knotted Oriental rugs in traditional and transitional designs, to sisals, bold contemporary styles, even one-of-a-kind custom creations, virtually any style and color of finely-crafted area rug can be found in our new Naples showroom.
Designers’ Rug Center enjoys a well-earned reputation for unequalled customer service and satisfaction in South Florida. Interior designers and decorators from both coasts have relied on our fine quality rugs for their clients’ homes since 1992.
